About Me

I am a fourth year PhD student at Illinois State University working in Dr. Ben Sadd’s

Infectious Disease Ecology Lab.

My research focuses on the evolutionary and ecological interactions in host associated microbial communities. Within this context I am interested in questions which examine:

  • Who is present in these communities?
  • What are they doing?
  • How are they interacting with each other and the host?
  • What are the consequences of these interactions for host health?

Currently, I utilize bumble bees as my model system for investigating these questions, but I am interested in these questions across taxa from bumble bees to coral reefs, and even humans.

In addition to my scientific interests, I also prioritize maintaining a healthy balance between my scientific work and other aspects of my life. I spend as much time as possible with my fiancé and our adorable little puppy Finn. I also captain the unofficial Illinois State University Biological Science soccer team. When I have free time, I also enjoy playing boardgames with friends and colleagues or even playing online games with friends who are too distant to see regularly in person.
